what I like is that it reads both generic OBD2 codes and the manufacturer-specific ones. pulled a pending code on my truck that a cheaper reader completely missed. the freeze frame data shows up too which helps figure out what conditions triggered the fault.
the I/M readiness screen breaks down each monitor individually, so you can see which ones are complete and which ones are still running. makes it really easy to know if the car is actually ready for emissions or if you need to drive it a bit more first.

the Mode 6 data on this thing is genuinely useful. it shows the actual test values and the limits side by side so you can see how close a sensor is to failing, not just whether it passed or failed. I didn't expect that level of detail at this price.

I honestly just plug this in and check my Mode 6 data when something feels off with the engine. never had it fail to connect or freeze up on me. it just works every time, which is more than I can say for the cheap one I used before.
my last scanner from a different brand would throw up codes but never tell me if the car was actually ready for emissions testing. this one has the I/M readiness check built right in, so I know exactly where I stand before I drive to the inspection station. huge difference.
