The expandable section is a really clever design. When I'm just walking around the neighborhood I keep it compact, but when we stop somewhere and my cat wants to look around I unzip it so she has more space. She genuinely seems happier when I do that.
Told my sister to grab one of these for her two trips a year to the vet. She was convinced the zippers would be cheap and break after a few uses like her old carrier did. She's been using it for a while now and hasn't had a single issue with them.

LOVE THIS SO MUCH!
There are a few little mesh windows and my cat has figured out exactly which angle he likes to look out from. The sun shade doesn't block all of them so he still gets to watch the world go by, he just isn't getting blasted by direct light. Really thoughtful layout.
My last cat backpack had zero ventilation and my boy would get so stressed and sweaty in there. This one actually lets air flow through properly, he seems calm and comfortable even on longer walks. Night and day difference.

ok so the back panel on this thing is padded in a way that actually distributes the weight nicely. My cat is a solid 12 pounds and after a good walk my back doesn't ache the way it used to with my old setup. The straps help a lot too.
Good quality and my cat fits with room to move around. The whole thing is more comfortable than I expected, both for her and for me carrying it. Would recommend to anyone with a cat who needs to travel regularly.
The sun cover is really helpful!!!
I was worried the sun shade cover would be flimsy or just fall off, because the one on my old travel crate was basically useless. This one clips on securely and actually blocks the light. My cat stops squinting and settles right down when I put it on.
